We are looking for a committed and energetic Playworker to join our playwork team at Gorse Covert Primary School.
Location: Gorse Covert Primary School, Birchwood
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Hours: 12:00-1:00pm and 3:15–6:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Grade 3, SCP 4-5, (£24,404 - £24,790), pro-rata, term time only
About the Role:
As a Playworker, you will help deliver fun, inclusive, and engaging wraparound provision before and after school. You’ll work closely with the Wraparound Care Manager to support a wide range of indoor and outdoor play opportunities, including risky play in line with OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) principles.
You’ll help create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive, explore, and enjoy their time outside the classroom.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Level 2 qualification in Playwork, Childcare, or a related field (or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a play or care setting
- Enthusiasm for outdoor play, creativity, and child-led exploration
- Willingness to support risky play activities in a safe and positive way
- Ability to assist in planning and preparing healthy snacks and light meals
- A caring, reliable, and proactive approach to working with children
