Finances
At Gorse Covert Primary School, we are committed to managing our finances responsibly and transparently so that the maximum possible funding is directed towards supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and opportunities.
How school funding is used
Our school budget is carefully planned and overseen by senior leaders, governors and trustees to ensure that public money is spent wisely and in the best interests of our children. Funding is used to support:
- high-quality teaching and learning
- staff development and training
- resources and learning environments
- pupil wellbeing, inclusion and support services
- the safe and effective running of the school
Financial decisions are made with a strong focus on value for money, sustainability and improving outcomes for pupils.
Financial benchmarking
As a maintained school, our financial data is published on the Schools Financial Benchmarking Service, which allows members of the public to compare school spending with similar schools nationally.

Financial governance and oversight
The school’s finances are regularly monitored and reviewed by the governing body to ensure:
- compliance with statutory requirements
- effective financial control and accountability
- alignment between spending decisions and school priorities
Governors also approve the annual budget and complete the Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS) each year to confirm that financial management arrangements are robust and effective.
