Welcome to Gorse Covert Primary School website

Head Teacher’s Welcome

On behalf of everyone at Gorse Covert Primary School, I am delighted to welcome you to our school website.

At Gorse Covert, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive — not just academically, but personally, socially and emotionally. Our aim is to help each child become a confident, curious, and compassionate individual who is ready for the next step in their learning journey.

We offer a rich and varied curriculum, designed to ignite a love of learning and to encourage children to explore their interests and talents. Alongside core academic subjects, children have opportunities to engage in creative arts, music, sport and outdoor learning — supporting both their intellectual and holistic development.

But what really sets us apart is our caring, inclusive, and nurturing community. Our dedicated staff work hard to create a welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported. We believe in working together — parents, staff, and children — as partners in education, and we warmly invite you to become part of that partnership.

We also value the importance of play, well-being and social growth. Through enhanced outdoor play and flexible provision such as before and after-school clubs, we ensure children enjoy their time at school, build friendships and develop social skills.

We recognise that every child is unique. Our commitment to inclusive practice ensures that all children are supported in a way that meets their individual needs so that everyone can succeed.

If you’d like to find out more or to see our school in action, please contact the school office to arrange a guided tour — I would be delighted to show you around.

We look forward to welcoming you to Gorse Covert.

Parent testimonials:

"When viewing primary schools and selecting our preferences, Gorse Covert Primary felt like an extended family as well as a school learning environment, it was obvious that the children enjoyed the lessons and activities. The wellbeing of the pupils is paramount. I like the size of the school and the resources that are available including the extra curricular activities available before and after school."

"Reception teachers are dedicated, professional and clearly enjoy what they do. The play areas introduced this year are incredible and it's wonderful to have a head teacher that values the children's play! The children seem to have many opportunities to be creative and explore different activities independently, which has encouraged *** to be more creative at home."

"The recent changes to the outdoor play areas are fantastic, I know my two really get a lot out of extra physical and outdoor activities during their down time. The teachers are all amazing, ***** has come out of her shell so much this year it’s been lovely to see."

"There is a real feeling of community and the way children from different year groups socialise is really positive and adds to a true sense of belonging."

"I feel that I easily communicate with everyone in the school and I have high trust they will do right by my children who are very much thriving."

"The fact that my child is very happy to go to school and complains about school holidays is amazing as she so clearly enjoys attending."
